The IDF has declared that by the end of July 2025, 54,000 able-bodied Ultra-Orthodox men will have received draft notices, and this time there will be consequences for refusal.
Meanwhile, if the news can be trusted, Netanyahu holds meetings in Washington DC in which he has:
1. Personally nominated US President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize (what a weak suck up)
2. Throwing some posh parties
3. Discussed the option of restarting the war with Iran
4. Seems close to agreeing to a 60 ceasefire in which Hamas gets to choose which of the remaining live hostages returns to their families….or not
Over at the European Broadcasting Union (Eurovision), Iceland and Spain has once again called to exclude Israel from the competition next year. In response, Italy and Germany said that themselves would withdraw from Eurovision if Israel is botted out without clear legal justification. It is also expected that Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Azerbaijan and Cyprus would side with Israel.
At my Alma Mater, Barnard College of Columbia University, they agreed to take measures to combat anti-Semitism in a lawsuit settlement with Jewish student. The plaintiffs claimed that the harassment of Jews violated the federal Title VI Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bars discrimination at federally funded institutions. The law is widely used by pro-Israel advocates against universities that receive federal funding, like Columbia and Barnard.
Barnard President Laura Ann Rosenbury said: “Anti-Semitism, discrimination, and harassment in any form are antithetical to the values Barnard College champions.”
In the settlement, they agreed to install a discrimination coordinator, voice a zero-tolerance policy toward anti-Jewish hate, and reject Israel boycott demands.
Time will tell if this is simply a band aid on a giant gaping wound.
